Eric Clapton’s Original Live Aid Amp Up for Sale

The 1984 Marshall JCM800 amp that Eric Clapton used during his Live Aid 1985 performance is now available for purchase. Clapton played this iconic amp with his “Blackie” Fender Stratocaster during a three-song set at Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Stadium, accompanied by Genesis drummer, Phil Collins.

The amp, previously owned by Clapton from 1985 to 2011, is being sold by London’s Denmark Street Guitars. It is believed to have been part of a collection of JCM800s auctioned in 2011 as a charity fundraiser for Clapton’s Crossroads addiction recovery center in Antigua.

TV audience of 1.5 billion people
The Live Aid show was watched by an estimated TV audience of 1.5 billion people. The amp was also used during the 2001 Band du Lac show and Cream’s 2005 reunion at the Royal Albert Hall.
