Sky Arts has launched a show, ‘Johnson and Knopfler’s Music Legends,’ featuring AC/DC’s Brian Johnson and ex-Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler. The six-part series, which started on 25th April, offers fans an intimate look into the lives and music of some of rock’s greatest stars.

The show promises to take viewers on a musical adventure across the years, with special behind-the-scenes moments, candid interviews, and jam sessions.

The star-studded guest list includes names like Tom Jones, Sam Fender, and Cyndi Lauper.

Highlight
A highlight of the series is a candid conversation with Tom Jones, who talks about his early love for blues music, which developed during a tough battle with TB in his youth.

Tom Jones shares a heartfelt memory: “They wanted to send me away you see, either to Scotland or to Switzerland for clean air, because of the coal mines in South Wales.”

“But when they came to see where we lived – we lived up on the side of a hill there, which was away from the mine, so they said, ‘Well, if he can have his own room, keep the window open, he doesn’t have to go anywhere.”

Mostly crooners
He recalls how the radio introduced him to various artists: “For the first year I was listening to the radio, y’know. After the war it was mostly crooners with bands but once in a while they would put in a Big Bill Broonzy song or Mahalia Jackson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe you might hear once in a while.”

“But when it would come on it was like, ‘Wow, what was that?’ ‘Black, Brown and White’, have you ever heard him (Broonzy) do that?”

Magical moment
In a magical moment, Jones sings ‘Black, Brown and White’, while Knopfler accompanies him on guitar and Johnson chimes in, creating an unforgettable musical experience.

The series is available to watch on Sky Arts, NOW, and Freeview.
