Tony Iommi Confirms New Solo Album; First in Two Decades
Black Sabbath guitar legend Tony Iommi has confirmed that he is working on his third solo album, his first in twenty years. In a recent interview on the Full Metal Jackie radio show, Iommi shared that he is currently writing and recording new material without any pressure, enjoying the creative process at his own pace.
Iommi stated, “I am writing stuff now for my own, for an album. So that’s exciting too. And there’s no pressure. I just do stuff when I feel like it, because, obviously, I’ve got a life to live and I like to do all the different stuff.”
Record
When asked whether the project would result in a full album or just individual tracks, Iommi confirmed: “No, I’m gonna do a record. And I’ve got a lot of stuff. But now we’re actually getting around to sort of putting it together, myself and the engineer.”
Last solo release
Iommi’s first solo album, Iommi, was released in October 2000 and featured a host of guest performers, including Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, and Dave Grohl. His second album, Fused, was released in 2005 in collaboration with Glenn Hughes. Iommi’s last solo release was the instrumental track “Scent of Dark” in November 2021.
