Celebrated fusion guitarist Pat Metheny is set to release his new solo guitar album, MoonDial on July 26 through BG Records. The album, which follows in the footsteps of Metheny’s previous solo works like One Quiet Night and What’s It All About, features Metheny’s artistry on the baritone guitar without any overdubs.

MoonDial includes Metheny’s interpretations of classics such as Chick Corea’s You’re Everything and Lennon and McCartney’s Here, There and Everywhere, along with a unique medley of Matt Dennis’ Angel Eyes and Leonard Bernstein’s Somewhere.

Approach
Discussing his approach to solo performances and recordings, Metheny said, “The idea for me is to try to keep coming up with different angles and ways of thinking about music while hopefully keeping a fundamental aesthetic at work in all of it.” During his recent 50-concert tour, Metheny showcased the new nylon-string Baritone guitar, gradually integrating it into his set to become a significant part of the performance.
