60 Scales and the Truth: Top Guitar Virtuosos Share Their Journey to Success
Dutch journalist and guitar enthusiast Niels Guns has launched a new podcast series about guitarists. Called 60 Scales and the Truth, he’ll be interviewing virtuoso guitarists about how they managed to build a career as a professional guitarist and the story behind it.
Despite hosting a new podcast, Niels has managed to get an impressive line-up of guitarists behind the mic. Upcoming episodes will feature Mark Lettieri, Mike Dawes, Ariel Posen, Paul Masvidal, Nili Brosh, Julian Lage, Reinier Baas, Michael Lee Firkins and Plini.
Mark Lettieri
The first episode features the incredibly talented Mark Lettieri. Mark made the bold decision to leave behind a career in marketing and PR to pursue his true passion: playing the guitar.
“Growing up, I found it impossible to answer the question ‘What do you want to do? Not because I lacked interests, but because I was overwhelmed by them all,” says Niels. “At the age of 16, I seriously dedicated myself to the guitar and even got accepted into a conservatory preparatory course”.
No regrets
“But instead of choosing music alone, I also pursued journalism. For some reason, I didn’t dare to commit myself fully to the guitar. No regrets, but in hindsight, I often reflect on that choice.”
Now Niels is interviewing guitarists who have actually committed themselves to the guitar and have managed to make a living from it. “Mark Lettieri’s story is one of courage and focus. He pursued his dream and became an exceptional guitarist, creating fantastic music.”
