David Gilmour has released a new music video for the track The Piper’s Call, the first single from his upcoming album Luck And Strange, set to be released on September 6, 2024. The video, directed by Gavin Elder, features a star-studded lineup, including Gilmour’s family and respected musicians.

Filmed in various locations such as Ely Cathedral, Astoria, and Brighton, the video includes appearances from co-producer Charlie Andrew, Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson, their children Romany and Gabriel Gilmour, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Guy Pratt, and more.

Mortality and the passage of time
The album Luck And Strange, produced by the Pink Floyd guitarist and Andrew, marks Gilmour’s first new material in nine years and promises to offer reflections on themes of mortality and the passage of time.

The majority of the album’s lyrics are penned by Polly Samson, who has been Gilmour’s writing partner for thirty years. The album also features a cover of The Montgolfier Brothers’ Between Two Points with artwork by Anton Corbijn.

Posthumous contribution from Richard Wright
The title track includes a special posthumous contribution from the late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright. It was recorded in 2007 in Gilmour’s studio.

Gilmour’s previous solo album, Rattle That Lock, was released in 2015 to critical acclaim and chart success. More recently, he has been involved in charitable endeavors, including a significant donation to ClientEarth from selling his instruments.

Fans can look forward to experiencing the new material and Gilmour’s classic sound when Luck And Strange is released later this year.
