Guitarist Bonnie Raitt has teamed up with the band Little Feat to record a cover of the Muddy Waters song Long Distance Call. This song is part of Little Feat’s first album since 2012, titled Sam’s Place, which is available now.

Sam Clayton, Little Feat’s percussionist who also sings lead on the album, said, “We go good together, man.” He has a history with Raitt, having played congas on her 1977 track Sweet Forgiveness.

Tribute to the blues
Recorded in Memphis, Sam’s Place is described as a tribute to the blues, featuring covers of classics by artists like Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon, and includes one original song, Milkman.

Raitt expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “I’ve always loved Little Feat and this new incarnation of the band is bringing some serious heat, cred and new blood to their enduring legacy.” She added, “I loved singing Long Distance Call with him, always one of my favourites, and Scott slayed on slide.”

Little Feat lineup
The current Little Feat lineup will be touring in the summer, both with the Tedeschi Truck Band and in their own headlining shows.
