Too Short to Rock: Ex-Megadeth Guitarist’s KISS Audition Dream Crushed

Marty Friedman, former Megadeth guitarist, revealed he was once considered for a spot in the iconic band KISS. However, his dreams were dashed due to an unexpected reason: his height.

In a recent interview, Friedman shared his excitement when KISS’ team approached him about auditioning. He eagerly agreed, but things took an unexpected turn.

When and where?
“They say, ‘Do you think you’d be interested in auditioning for KISS?’ And I’m like, ‘Tell me when and where,'” Friedman recounted, as writes RTTNews.

The guitarist met most of KISS’ requirements, but fell short – literally – when it came to height. Standing at 5’7″, Friedman didn’t meet the band’s 6-foot minimum.

“I’m like 5’7 and a half, but I’ll have an operation, I’ll do something”, Friedman joked.

Friedman has since moved on, recently releasing his 14th solo album and planning a 2025 tour.
