Slayer’s Surprise Return: Kerry King Open to Occasional Shows
Slayer guitarist Kerry King has shared his thoughts on the band’s upcoming reunion shows. These concerts come five years after what was thought to be Slayer’s final tour.
In a recent interview, King explained that he wasn’t ready to stop playing when Slayer initially ended. However, he understood the situation.
Ready to hang it up
“I wasn’t ready to hang it up, but there’s really no point in going on with someone that doesn’t want to do it anymore”, King said. He compared Slayer’s initial retirement to winning the Super Bowl and leaving on a high note.
King made it clear that Slayer won’t tour or record again. However, he’s open to playing occasional shows ‘to make some people happy’.
Retirement
The guitarist also explained that Slayer’s retirement was from touring, not playing altogether. “We never said we were done playing. We said, ‘This is our final tour'”, King clarified.
He is looking forward to playing with his bandmates again, especially Gary Holt, with whom he played for 10 years in Slayer.
