Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood Hospitalized, The Smile Cancels Tour
Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood is in intensive care due to a serious illness. The 52-year-old musician, who was touring with The Smile, had to cancel the European leg of the tour.
The band, which includes Thom Yorke and Tom Skinner, announced that Greenwood is ‘seriously ill’ but will ‘soon return home’.
Infection
The Smile shared on X, “A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care. Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home. We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery.”
Refunds
All ticket holders will receive refunds. The Smile, known for their mix of Radiohead-like sound with Krautrock and jazz influences, had planned to perform in Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and Poland next month. The band wished Greenwood a ‘speedy recovery’.
