Pink Floyd’s Gilmour Shoots Down Reunion Hopes, Citing Ethical Concerns
David Gilmour has firmly rejected any possibility of reuniting with his former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters. In recent interviews, Gilmour made it clear that their differences go beyond musical disagreements.
“Absolutely not”, Gilmour said when asked about a potential reunion. He explained his stance, saying, “I tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin and Venezuelan president Maduro.”
Deep ethical divide
Gilmour’s comments highlight the deep ethical divide between the two musicians. As The Independent reports, Gilmour stated, “Nothing would make me share a stage with someone who thinks such treatment of women and the LGBT community is OK.”
The guitarist’s strong words come amid news that Pink Floyd has reportedly sold their music rights and name-and-likeness rights for about $400 million to Sony.
Reunion
Despite ruling out a reunion with Waters, Gilmour said he wished he could perform again with the late Rick Wright, Pink Floyd’s keyboardist, whom he described as ‘one of the gentlest and most musically gifted people I’ve ever known’.
