In an unexpected musical collaboration, rap-metal band Body Count has released a cover of Pink Floyd’s iconic song Comfortably Numb, featuring none other than Pink Floyd’s own David Gilmour on guitar.

This surprising and unlikely rendition brings together the intense style of Body Count with the classic prog-rock masterpiece. Gilmour himself praised the cover, saying, “It astonishes me that a tune I wrote almost 50 years ago is back with this great new approach. They’ve made it relevant again.”

Older now
Ice-T, Body Count’s lead vocalist, explained their interpretation: “For me, ‘Comfortably Numb’ is an introspective song – it’s me acknowledging that I’m older now.” He added that the song explores themes of detachment and the choice between maintaining passion or giving up.

Gilmour’s involvement came after Body Count initially sought permission to use the song. The Pink Floyd guitarist then offered to play on the track, appreciating the new lyrics that reflect on the current state of the world.

Unexpected fusion of musical styles
The collaboration is part of Body Count’s upcoming album Merciless, set for release on November 22nd via Century Media.
