Jon Bon Jovi Rules Out Reunion with Richie Sambora

Jon Bon Jovi has said that Richie Sambora, who left the band in 2013, is unlikely to rejoin Bon Jovi anytime soon. Despite rumors and hints from Sambora about a possible return, Bon Jovi told Classic Rock that Sambora ‘hasn’t made any great overtures about coming back’.

Bon Jovi explained, “I’ve talked to him twice. He. Quit. The. Band. I swear to Christ there was never a fight, nothing… He wasn’t kicked out, he quit.”

Sudden departure
Recalling Sambora’s sudden departure, Bon Jovi said, “Nobody anticipated it, no-one saw it coming. It was Easter Sunday, 2013, and I was driving through the Lincoln Tunnel… He said: ‘Can I stay home one more day?’ ‘Of course. You want to fly private tomorrow? Sure. Do it. I don’t care. See you up there.’ And then the next day the phone rings at three in the afternoon, and, you know… ‘I can’t go on.’”

Briefly reunited
The two briefly reunited in 2018 for Bon Jovi’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, but no formal reunion has been planned since.
