Devin Townsend’s Surprising New Album: 11 Days of Musical Magic
Devin Townsend, a famous musician, has shared new music from his upcoming album called PowerNerd. This album is part of a trilogy of new music he’s working on.
PowerNerd will be released on October 25. Townsend says the album is about turning what society sees as weakness into strength.
Just 11 days
Louder Sound writes that Townsend wrote all the music for this album in just 11 days. He explains: “It was a conscious thing. I thought, ‘I’ve spent so much time overthinking every aspect of my work – what would happen if I didn’t?’ Maybe I would have the opportunity to be a bit more direct with what it is that I’m trying to do.”
The album will be available in different formats, including special editions with extra content. Fans can already pre-order the album.
After PowerNerd, Townsend plans to release two more albums: The Moth, which he describes as “orchestral, over-the-top, dark and uncomfortable”, and Axolotl, which he calls ‘alien weirdness’.
