David Gilmour Open to Pink Floyd Hologram Show
David Gilmour, the legendary guitarist of Pink Floyd, has expressed interest in a holographic show similar to ABBA’s Voyage, but with stringent terms.
In a recent interview with Uncut magazine, Gilmour shared his thoughts on the potential for a Pink Floyd holographic experience, stating that he might agree if “a series of very, very difficult and onerous conditions” were met.
Gilmour’s comments come as the music industry increasingly embraces holograms, with ABBA and Kiss leading the way.
Appeal
He admits that while the holographic ABBA didn’t entirely win him over, he sees the appeal, especially in a live setting with a crowd.
“If you were a determined ABBA fan, you might enjoy it”, he says. “The best moment for me was when the live band played a song (Does Your Mother Know) on their own.”
Tough conditions
Although Gilmour is not completely closed off to the idea of a Pink Floyd hologram show, he suggests that it would take a lot of money, creativity, and agreement on tough conditions.
“If someone came up with all the money and all the brilliant ideas – and then once we’ve agreed to a series of very, very difficult and onerous conditions – I’d say, ‘Yeah, OK.’”
Patient
Fans may have to be patient, as these types of shows take considerable time to develop. For example, Kiss’s avatar shows are not expected to launch until 2027.
Meanwhile, Kiss has already taken a step into the virtual realm by selling their song catalogue and rights to their image to Pophouse Entertainment Group, the same company behind ABBA Voyage. They announced their move into the digital age during the final show of their End Of The Road tour.
