Cork Rallies to Save Rory Gallagher’s Legendary Guitar with Star-Studded Concert

Cork music lovers are coming together to try and keep Rory Gallagher’s famous guitar in their city. They’re organizing a big concert to raise money .Sheena Crowley, who owns a music shop in Cork, is leading this effort. Her father sold the guitar to Gallagher when he was young.

Crowley has arranged a concert at Cork City Hall on September 15. This place is special to Gallagher’s fans.

Crowley says, “I never saw Rory in the actual City Hall, I saw him in the Everyman and the RTC (the current MTU Cork) but a lot of stories some of our customers tell me are about their gigs that they went to in City Hall”, The Irish Examiner writes.

Local bands
The concert will feature many local bands playing Gallagher’s music. These include Trés Hombres, Hot Guitars, The Watermelons, and Moonchild.

Crowley is trying to raise €1 million to buy Gallagher’s guitar at an auction. So far, they’ve raised about €32,000.

Fierce excitement
People are excited about the concert. Crowley says, “There’s fierce excitement, really; there’s people coming from Germany, and America.” She expects the show to sell out.

Tickets for the concert cost €25. People can also watch it online and donate money. All the money will go towards buying Gallagher’s guitar and keeping it in Cork.
