Becoming Led Zeppelin: Anticipated Documentary Set for Theatrical Release
The much-awaited documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin is heading to theaters, as confirmed by Sony Classics Pictures. The film, which has been in the works since its announcement in 2019, received the band’s rare approval and involvement.
After a preliminary showing at the Venice Film Festival in 2021, it disappeared from the public eye, leaving fans uncertain about its release.

The documentary, which now includes additional footage and a brand-new sound mix, offers a look into the band’s early days and their journey to fame with the release of Led Zeppelin II It features live performances from iconic 1969 concerts, interviews with the band’s guitar player Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, and archival material of the late John Bonham.
Director Bernard McMahon emphasizes that the film is crafted for the big screen and sound systems, aiming to give fans the ultimate viewing experience. While no specific release date has been announced, the “now completed” status of the film suggests that it may be coming to theaters soon.
