Auction Reveals Rare Live Recording of Jimi Hendrix from 1965
A rare live recording of Jimi Hendrix from a 1965 concert has been found and is going to be sold at an auction. This tape is special because it is one of the few live recordings of Hendrix before he became famous worldwide. At the time, he was playing guitar with Little Richard’s band, The Upsetters.
Bobby Livingston, Executive Vice President at RR Auction, said, “Hearing Jimi Hendrix attack the opening chords of I Saw Her Standing There makes your hair stand up.” He also added that finding this recording is like “discovering a musical holy grail”.
The recording includes songs like I Saw Her Standing There and Lucille. It shows Hendrix’s guitar skills and Little Richard’s powerful singing. Even though Hendrix only played with Little Richard briefly, this experience was important for his growth as a musician.
